Like this entry... Steph's first (shockingly!) on the Mario Party blog! Much like Jesse did the night before in terms of taking it to Todd Moore, Steph let the boys (Jace & Trey & Todd) try to battle it out with her Sunday morning... and she walloped us all! Congrats, Steph. And welcome to the Mario Party Blog!

Look What We Started!
What with Jace's latest victory and the photo spoils to go with it, there was nothing that was going to stop us from a Mario Party 10 donnybrook this past weekend in Seattle! Seasoned MP10 vets Jesse & Stephanie showed Todd how it's done and Jesse took the first win of the new legacy! I'm sure it may have been different had Jace & Trey had their go, but the Paulsons waited until they boys went to bed to take it out on the newbie. That said, well done, JesseP!

A New Legacy!
I got the best surprise ever this week -- Mario Party LIVES ON! One Jace John Paulson is the next generation of Mario Party SuperStars!! Here he is celebrating his dominant performance over -- likely -- his parents who just might be a wee bit rusty. Regardless, we have a new Champion and the Legacy is alive! Well done, JaceMan!!

(Not So) Happy New Year!
Well, the good news is that 2010 is now behind us... and it marks the last time EVER we will let the computer beat us at Mario Party!
Yes, it happened last night as we celebrated New Year's Eve with a start at St.Andrews, complete with three rounds of Barnyard, and ended with Mario Party at Salon Moore!
In the spirit of new beginnings and closure to all things past, well done computer. 2011 won't be your year!

Bringin' (Mario) Party Back! YEAH!
Amy, John, Jesse, Todd and The Captain enjoyed an impromptu Mario Party after Salon Moore closed last night and Todd emerged victorious with a whopping 11 stars (out of 20 on the board)! Granted, he got two bonus stars (awarded to everyone, in truth), but 13 > 10 (Jesse) so Todd won!
Not going to lie, the best part of the entire party was the amazing 'Picture This' finale where Amy raced to a 2-0-0-0 lead, but the boys stormed back to force sudden death at 2-2-2-2. It was frantic and dramatic and loud and Copper was confused and Jesse found the pink car passing the blue car to take the final Mini Game -- as well as the Mini Game Champion title altogether. Well done, JP!

Long Time Coming!
Indeed, John, Amy and I were finally able to get a great game of MP in and Todd emerged the victor! It was a tough race, however, and Amy was in it until the Bonus Star awards which pushed Todd over top! Next time, JW. Next time! (Or not.)

It's been months, but...
We have another Mario Party Winner! After a rousing SpaceShip round, Todd and Amy bubbled to the top of the Mario Party heap with four stars each after two bonus stars. However, with a few extra coins, Todd emerged victorious in our first MP in months!
New MP'er, Copper, also got in on the action and had a GREAT time! So excited that she peed twice in the house, in fact! (Yay! Boo.)

Look Who's Back!
Indeed, Jesse Paulson made a triumphant return after the Sounders game by sneaking the green space star to become the Mario Party Champion!

Unusual event... Seemingly usual finish.
Yes, indeed, Jesse, John and I were able to complete another Mario Party event this past weekend. With Amy out of town, JaceMan down & out and a Paulson mother-in-law in town, the gents were able to convene for another bout with the computer -- this time doing everything possible to ensure we didn't have to take a shaming photo of the threesome.

This shameful photo did NOT occur! JW took top honors with eight (8) stars to not eight (8) stars by the other contestants. Well done, John Weaver! Yet another win... a seemlinly consistent finish!
Side note: one knows it has been a while when Jesse Paulson forgets what the games are!

Merry Christmas, John!
The Weavers were over to celebrate Christmas over this past weekend. In so doing, of course, we had a full evening to enjoy a Mario (Christmas) Party!

John proved to be a good boy in Game One as we ventured through Windmill Central (and learned that 10 rounds is just not enough; rule change implemented: 15 rolls through the Netherlands!). John scored the path to the three-star windwill and took the game with six stars.

Game Two was an entirely different story. And yes, John won. But this had nothing to do with JW's actions this year! In fact, the match game down to this. If Amy's character OR if the computer won the final star, she would have been champ. Had Todd won the final star, he would have been champ. Same, had JW won, he would have taken the match.
That bloody final star... turns out it was the shopping star. JW and I TIED in what we spent during the round so it came down to coins. JW: 4. TM: 0. ARRRRRRRGHHHHHH!

Mario Party Revisited!
In spite of JW and Amy now being married and Mario Parties seemlingly ending as we know it, we forged ahead in the face of this dry spell and played Mario Party last night! Once again, JW dominated. While TM dominated Game One, random bonus stars put JW on top of the Tower of Mario Party Power:

In a desire to have a rematch, Amy and Todd decided to take JW on again, this time in the Dutch world of bidding on windmills.

JW kicked even more Mario Party butt in the second match, garnering six (6) stars by bidding only -- not even to mention bonus stars! The rest of the competitors won three, three and one star, respectively -- before bonus stars were even awarded.
Interestingly, for the first time we saw a bonus star awarded to NO ONE! Literally, not one competitor landed on the Green Question Mark space, yet the system chose that as a bonus star. With that, not one player could have gotten all three stars even to tie JW and he walked away with the second win of the night.
Final Tally:
JW - 2
AW - 0
TM - 0
Good times altogether. And we finally Mario Partied after so much time!

Boooooooooooooring
Or was it?!
Yes, another match of Mario Party has now (finally!) taken place. It seems to have been a VERY similar outcome with Soon-To-Be-No-More-Bachelor Johnny Weaver taking top prize. However, the championship was in hot dispute until the FINAL Bonus Star (red spaces of all things!) which gave Waluigi the win over Peach (Todd) with 67 to 57 coins.
Not that anyone's upset, but this one is being protested. Red spaces?! FFS.

Birthday (Mario) Party!
As part of the finale of my Birthday Weekend, John & Amy ventured over for Sunday evening dinner and Mario Party! We played two outstanding rounds with two separate winners...
In the first round, John -- played in the game by Boo -- eeked past Amy, the computer and I on his way to yet another victory with the ghost. John is hereby also banned from being Boo... if we haven't already banned that character from his repertoire (along with Toad):

In the second of two highly contested matches, the Birthday Boy himself took the crown:

A Perfect Match!
1. Amy rhymes with Yoshi.
2. She was wearing green in honor of her character!
The boys didn't approach the game with such a selfless paradigm, and instead ended the evening green with envy:
Poor boys!

A Tight One!
The most recent Mario Party was indeed a tight one! To let you share in the suspense, instead of posting the winner straight away, I'd prefer to walk you through the step-by-step of what John, Amy and I experienced last night...
First, we ended Pagoda Peak in a four-way tie with 1 star each!

When it came to coins, Amy won the final game to take a 1-coin lead over Boo (JW):

So we all knew that the Bonus Stars would lead us to the winner. Little did we know however, what they would be, and once announced, who in the world won them:

But Luigi (Todd) took the Mini Games star! A shocker as JW frequenly wins this star!

There was a two-way winner for Orbs used -- Boo & Toad! Darned small fries...

The final star would mean that whoever won the Running Star for movement on the board would win the whole thing! If Amy won, she'd have two stars and the most coins! But it was not meant to be...

Boo secured the third and final bonus star and effectively gave John yet another Mario Party win!

And we hereby state that JW can no longer be Boo either. Boring.
